Stop gap - Photo Finish special from Wales

In an attempt to stop the next edition of BlackLOG making "War and Peace" look like a half written pamphlet, I’ve decided to release some photo’s from last week’s trip to Wales, while I try and trim the worst excesses.....to be honest it’s a bit like bikini waxing a gorilla  - a non co-operative gorilla at that....

Before the pictures a couple of snippets of info for you

The Olympic ticket update
We got  the Beach volleyball   - I tried to explain to a disconsolate Mrs B that this was not instead of any of the events that we went for and if we had not gone for the Beach Volleyball tickets we would have got nothing….

Mrs B“I bet it rains” scuffing her shoes along the ground and glaring at me….

Me – “Don’t worry I checked the rules and if it rains the ladies have to replace  their bikini tops with tight fitting white T-shirts and it becomes a wet T-shirt competition…..”

Mrs B – said nothing, just raised one eyebrow menacingly and managed to roll both her eyes – deeply disturbing and yet strangely erotic at the same time….like a sexy “Mad-Eye Moody” for you Potter fans

Moving comments
The link for adding a comment has gone back to the bottom of the page, as I had a number of complaints that people were fed up having scroll back to the top of the blog in order to make a comment….or in some cases getting bored and nodding off before putting their thoughtful prose to keyboard and screen….

Photo Finish
Big thanks this week to Stunt-Cock who convinced me to unleash The Beast and go fully manual, which has added a new dimension to some of the snaps...

I open up this week with Alfie, doing his impression of a well known
Cuban revolutionary leader As well as doing impressions of famous
cigar smokers, Alfie enjoys playing tug of stick and chasing sheep
(oh yes he does La Terriere…)

If you tune in next time you will get to see and hear a little bit more about
Alfie and his Parents owners ,Stunt Cock and Le Terriere,  who joined us
for the first part of our Welsh trip.
This shot of a spotted flycatcher took me a while to capture, I was just
relieved to discover that it was the creepy crawler type of
flies that is catches….

Although watching a bird hopping around with its little bird hood caught
in its tiny zipper might have been quite amusing….
Who says Big flowers don’t cry…..it’s either that or our little
purple friend got a bit over excited and didn’t make the
loo in time…
This is a before shot of Welsh wood .
While this is the after shot…..
perhaps that was why the flower was crying….
Water, captured in a moment in time....
Roots which I thought were
aesthetically  pleasing....
This is a red kite that I managed to capture in flight, which was a damn site
easier than the hard to Spot flycatcher…This picture is just cropped while the
version below has had a little sharpening and lightening added in
Photoshop elements ...
I’m still in two minds on whether I should use elements to
enhance photos….any thoughts?
Drop in next time for the first part of our Welsh getaway

  1. Beach Volleyball doesn't seem like a bad sport to watch. Though, it would definitely make it more interesting if people fell and got hit in the head a lot more during it.

    These are AMAZING photos!!!

The birds are incredible shots and really beautiful, and that Welsh wood is completely mystical!

I love the water and the flower, and your photography really awes me, I'm tellin' ya.

I'm very much into photography myself and spent a real pretty penny on a great camera a few years back, but have barely made the time to brush up on my photography with all else I've kept busy with. Time to get into that again.

Alfie so reminds me of Jacque from Lady & The Tramp, if he had tried his hand at being a poker king.

I'm excited, but waiting patiently for the next BlackLog post and hearing about the trip! =)

  2. Good work on the volleyball!

I can't believe 'Photo Finish' was only about 5 paragraphs in. Lazy BackLOG, lazy ;)

My untrained eye doesn't see much of a difference in the photos. But what do I know...

As it is in Horse Guards parade they should forget about the sand and play on the cobbles instead, perhaps riding on horses, using pistols and swords, they could run a bit and possibly swim a section….Oh Hang on a second that sounds like the Modern Pentathlon….

Thank you, Stunt Cock needs to take a lot of the credit for this as he has been encouraging me to go fully manual and thus experiment more…

When I got The Beast Mrs B thought it would be just another 5 minute wonder…Then I discovered that the more time you put in with the Camera the more you get out and have been happily snapping away for 2 ½ years and getting more and more out of it. Forget growing all that poisons veg, grab your camera and start taking loads of pictures….

Alfie so reminds me of Jacque from Lady & The Tramp, if he had tried his hand at being a poker king.
I couldn’t beat him playing tug a stick, so you don’t seriously think I’m going to risk money playing cards with him…..

I'm excited, but waiting patiently for the next BlackLog post and hearing about the trip! =)
You’ve got me excited about what I’m going to come up with…. I hope I don’t disappoint us both

See Cynical if had been married to you we could have celebrated getting hold of the tickets rather then had an inquest into how it stopped us getting other events….Which it didn’t. I was a bit disappointed and surprised that BV was one of the few events which had not sold out.

I can't believe 'Photo Finish' was only about 5 paragraphs in. Lazy BackLOG, lazy ;)
So I describe it as a holding blog and a Photo Finish special and yet you still moan about not enough words….turns out you are more demanding than Mrs B after all….Just as well we are not married because I already want a divorce….Now I’m going to have to go back to bed I find it exhausting defending accusations of being lazy

My untrained eye doesn't see much of a difference in the photos. But what do I know...
Well you could at least try using the trained one ….

  5. I think you lost me at 'sexy' and 'Mad-Eye Moody' in the same phrasing...

    But beach volleyball? Excellent sport.

I don’t suppose you want me to draw you a map....

Not bad, but not so good when your wife wanted the modern pentathlon .
